Mr. Ryan Allain retired from the U.S. Coast Guard after a 24 year career that spanned many of the Coast Guard’s primary missions including search and rescue, marine inspection, pollution response and marine casualty investigations. Major accomplishments during his successful career included the development of U.S. and international maritime safety and environmental regulations and improvements to the Coast Guard’s port state control vessel targeting scheme. During his tenure supervising the Coast Guard’s Vessel Response Plan program, his efforts to revamp the review and approval process for over 8,000 vessel response plans earned the program the Coast Guard’s Innovation Award for Management. In his current role with MSC Cruises, Mr. Allain supervises all safety, security, and environmental activities of the company’s cruise ships that are operating in the U.S. and Caribbean. MSC Cruises is the market leading cruise company in the Mediterranean, South Africa, and Brazil. In December of 2017, MSC Cruises will introduce its newest vessel, MSC Seaside, to the U.S market.
