Alfa Laval PureBallast – compliance in all waters
Alfa Laval PureBallast was world’s very first commercially available ballast water treatment system, launched in 2006. Since then more than 1400 PureBallast systems have been sold for container ships, tankers, bulk carriers, offshore supply vessels, naval vessels and more, hundreds of which have already been delivered and installed, both on newbuilds and as retrofit.
Alfa Laval PureBallast 3.1 has type approval from both IMO and the U.S. Coast Guard and as only UV-supplier approved to be installed in hazardous zones at both foreign and US flagged vessels.
Alfa Laval PureBallast, can handle all water salinities as well as low-clarity waters – operating at full flow where UV transmittance is as low as 42%. PureBallast 3.1 is fully automated and thoroughly integrated with the ships ballast water system. It is also an inline solution, in which the major components incorporated into the ballast water piping for a minimal footprint. It requires no salt or chemicals, and no heating, even when operating in fresh water, and no tanks or ventilation systems are needed to manage consumables or residuals.
Alfa Laval with more than century in the marine industry and Alfa Laval PureBallast as being a decade at the forefront in BWT, it has a well prepared global project- and service organization in place to ensure many years of compliant and cost-efficient operation.
