Eric Visser

Eric Visser, born and raised in the Netherlands, concluded his marine studies at the Nautical University in Amsterdam and graduated with degrees in Marine Engineering as well as Nautical Science. After sailing on cargo vessels, he entered the cruise industry as 5th Engineer onboard one of the Holland America Line vessels in 1996. Thereafter he grew through the ranks to sail as Staff and Chief Engineer before going shoreside in 2005.

In his current position he is responsible for Talent Acquisition, Fleet Training, HR budget and Career Planning for 30,000 employees. This work, includes directing the manning agencies worldwide on programs and processes to ensure fleet, personnel is competent, certified and medical fit; Overseeing scheduling of deck, engine and hospitality employees for Holland America Line and Princess Cruises, as well as Deck and Engine personnel for Seabourn and P&O Australia; Collective Bargain Agreements with several unions worldwide; Creating strategic recruitment and manning plans to ensure new build vessels are staffed, as well as existing fleet and responsible for STCW, CSMART and Carnival Corporation training requirements under the ISM code (HESSMS).
