Prior to joining Hill Dickinson in 2000, Tony worked for seven years as an average adjuster with Richards Hogg Lindley. He qualified as an Associate of the Chartered Insurance Institute in 1998, a solicitor in 2000 and as an Associate of the Association of Average Adjusters in May 2017. He retains a broad interest in shipping matters and this is reflected in the instructions he receives from shipowners, P&I Clubs, ports groups, major insurance companies and Lloyd’s syndicates.
Tony’s practice is split between shipping, port work and marine personal injury.
Tony regularly acts on shipping matters such as salvage and General Average cases for shipowners, cargo interests and their insurers. He also advises in relation to insurance coverage issues.
He deals with all types of injury claims from all parts of the shipping industry including passenger, crew and stevedore claims, ranging from slips and trips to catastrophic injuries and fatalities as well as having a well-known noise induced deafness practice.
Tony is regularly instructed by the UK’s largest port companies to advise and defend them in relation to claims resulting from cargo being lost or damaged in handling or storage, regulatory matters, claims in relation to ship collision damage to port infrastructure, and terms and conditions.
