Head of Transportation & Logistics - Americas at ABN AMRO
Francis is Managing Director and head of Transportation & Logistics for the Americas for ABN AMRO, based in NY. Transportation and Logistics encompass shipping, intermodal, aviation and logistics. He has particular focus in developing this fourth new, broad and important logistics leg since ABN AMRO’s position is already well anchored in the other sectors. Francis started his banking career in 1992 in Luxembourg and moved on to France, Norway and the US. He relocated in 2012 to New York to spearhead the development of ABN AMRO’s presence with shipping and energy offshore companies. He came from the position as Country Head for Norway and Head of Energy, Commodities & Transportation in Scandinavia. Francis joined ABN AMRO’s predecessor Mees Pierson/Fortis in 2000 after prior work experience with Societe Generale and the engineering and construction company Kværner. He post graduated from the University of Mannheim in Germany in 1991 and holds a Master degree in Finance from NHH in Bergen, Norway and HEC in Jouy-en-Josas, France.
Relevant transaction experience :
Francis has a broad experience and reputation in shipping and offshore finance, both at corporate and project finance level. He has acted as advisor to numerous shipping companies in their choice of debt capital structure. He has developed and been in charge of structured debt transactions involving multiple market and banking products, with most focus on junior and senior debt structures, total return swaps, ECA supported schemes incl. CIRR stabilization products. He has been involved in numerous M&A transactions in the space. Francis has in lead numerous financings for most of the large Scandinavian and North American companies, including for the latter, for public entities such as Dorian LPG, Eagle Bulk, Teekay Tankers, Teekay Offshore, Teekay Gas Partners and Genco.
