Director of Global Shipping Operations at Carbon War Room
As Director Carbon War Room’s Shipping Operation, Maurice is focused on speeding the decarbonization of the Global Shipping Industry. The operation is one of CWR’s longest standing and respected programs and represents a tremendous platform from which to affect change in this critical global industry. Maurice leads the operation and drives a diverse project portfolio that includes activities related to stimulating market innovation, influencing global investment communities and working with major industry participants to establish and pursue and aggressive path towards decarbonization. Prior to joining Carbon War Room, Maurice led Business for Social Responsibilities, (BSR) European, Middle East and Africa (EMEA) Transport and Logistics sector. In that role he collaborated with multinational companies in the transport and logistics sector improve their sustainability performance through connecting private industry ambition to BSR driven initiatives such as Business in a Climate Constrained World (BCCW), Maritime Anti-Corruption Network (MACN) and Clean Cargo Working Group (CCWG). The position represented BSR to the corporate sector and other key stakeholders in these industries in close cooperation with BSR global industry leaders and practices around climate change, human rights, responsible supply chains, circular economy. Maurice has worked with and developed sustainability strategies and programs with Fortune 500 companies at senior levels focusing on operational, tactical and strategic aspects within international shipping, logistics, technology and manufacturing. Before joining BSR, Maurice worked with the A.P. Moller—Maersk Group, where he led the development and implementation of sustainability strategy, along with responsibilities on environment and climate change issues in the offshore and maritime industry. He has been involved with various industry organizations, such as INTERTANKO, OCIMF, and IADC, supporting and driving industry standards on environmental performance. Maurice is co-founder and member of the advisory board of Blockchain Labs for Open Collaboration (BLOC), a maritime platform of public and private participants and talent that have come together to co-create validated blockchain solutions to meet common needs and create shared value.
