Judith van Leeuwen is assistant professor at the Environmental Policy Group. Her research focuses on the role of business and private governance in protecting the marine environment from plastic pollution but also in sustainability transitions in the blue economy and the shipping industry. She has published on the role of the IMO and corporate environmental management in the shipping industry in journals like Marine Policy, Ocean and Coastal Management and Global Environmental Politics. She is part of an international network of social scientific experts in sustainable shipping and port operations coordinated by the Sauder School of Business of British Columbia and Copenhagen Business School.
