Juha VuolleChief of the Border and Coast Guard Division (Chief of Operations) at Finnish Border Guard
Juha Vuolle is the Deputy Head of the Border and Coast Guard Division (Deputy Head of Operations) since 2017. Previously he was the Head of Maritime SAR and Safety Unit. The Border Guard Headquarters is also the Interior Ministry’s Border Guard Department.
Vuolle has graduated from the Naval Academy in 1992 and from the General Staff Officers Course in 2001. He has worked on Coast Guard vessels as well in the Passport Control.
From the position of Gulf of Finland Deputy Commander he was promoted to Head Quarters International Affairs Unit in 2011 and later as Head of Maritime SAR and Safety Unit. Captain (CG) Vuolle has been a member of the BSRBCC (Baltic Sea Border Control Cooperation) and the ECGFF (European Coast Guard Functions Forum) secretariats. He has been the Interior Ministry's delegate to several IMO meetings, especially to the Maritime Safety Committee. At EU level he has done several Schengen Blue Borders evaluations to different countries.
Vuolle is married with two daughters and one son. Main hobbies and off work activities are related to outdoors. Summer vacation and many weekends are spent at family's summer house, which is situated on an island at Lake Saimaa.
