Participants will be presented with a scenario in which an oil and gas platform located within a block in the North Sea (UK continental shelf) needs to be removed and transported to a different European country for dismantlement and disposal. The Contract includes a fixed scope work for (1) engineering, (2) offshore preparation of the platform (Topside and Jacket only), (3) associated heavy lift works for removal of the installation, and (4) transboundary movement of the items removed. No subsea works are expected.

The class will be divided into groups to act as the ‘Project Management Team’ for the execution of the contract and will be presented with questions on the following subjects:

  • Stakeholder analysis;
  • Risk Analysis based on stakeholders’ interest in the works;
  • Contractual aspects of decommissioning;
  • Variation Order Clauses; and
  • Waste management compliance (UK)
