Kate Schroder Jensen

Engineer, EGC/IGS Legislation & Compliance at Alfa Laval Aalborg A/S

Kate has followed the development in the scrubber business from the very beginning, starting working for Alfa Laval in 2010 when at that time the World’s largest experimental scrubber had been operating approx. for a year on board the DFDS ship Tor Ficaria (Ficaria Seaways) and since numbers of commercial scrubbers followed, DFDS and Spliethoff being amongst the prime movers.

On daily basis Kate is Alfa Laval’s marine regulation expert and follows the developments within IMO’s marine environment protection committee and the ongoing cooperative work in EU Commission auspice. Enforcement of IMO Guidelines and Regulations are often in the hands of class societies, why it also is important for a company like Alfa Laval to ensure equal interpretations amongst those.

Kate holds a bachelor degree in thermodynamic energy engineering from 1994 and has during her professional life gathered much experience in alternative energy sources and exhaust gas cleaning technologies.

She was born and brought up in Skagen (the Skaw), the very top of Denmark, a fishing community and her farther himself was a fisherman. She knows the importance of safety at sea for good and worse, but have never stopped loving the sea; in her adult life, she has become a keen open water swimmer and sails an Iroquois.
