Maqta Gateway General Manager at Abu Dhabi Ports
Dr. Noura Al Dhaheri is the General Manager of Maqta Gateway LLC, the developer and operator of Maqta Port Community System (Maqta PCS) a wholly owned subsidiary of Abu Dhabi Ports.
Since its inception in 2014, Dr. Noura assumed the leadership of Maqta Gateway where she spearheaded the development and implementation of the UAE’s’ first state‐of‐the‐art Port Community System, Maqta PCS – a digital platform solution that acts as a single window provider for all stakeholders and port authority to exchange information. The digital platform aims to streamline and facilitate import and export activities at Abu Dhabi’s trade hubs, contributing to Abu Dhabi’s development plans.
She currently holds the position of Chairman of the Research and Development Committee, with Scientific Research Papers published in renowned international journals in the fields of logistics, sustainability,supply chain optimization, and ports operations. Dr. Noura also serves as Chairwoman of Abu Dhabi Ports Women Committee, where she plays an integral role in supporting the career development and education advancement of women in maritime industry.
Dr. Noura holds a PhD with high distinction from Masdar Institute, in collaboration with Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). Her studies focused on formulating mathematical optimization models with special application to seaport operations, making her the first female in the Middle East to receive a Doctoral degree in the field of seaside operations.
She also holds a Master’s Degree in Engineering Systems and Management with a concentration in Logistics and Supply Chain Optimization from Masdar Institute for Science and Technology. Prior to that,she had obtained her Bachelor’s degree in Software Engineering from United Arab Emirates University.
Her distinguished career has seen her awarded a number of prestigious awards for her outstanding contributions in the field of information technology, including Schlumberger’s “Best Pipe Inspection Robot” Award. Dr. Noura also earned a certificate of honor from Bill Gates in recognition of her innovative approach in designing a mobile learning device at the Imagine Cup 2007 competition by Microsoft, where she and her team won first‐place.
