Partner, Dubai - Mr. Burns has over 35 years of experience in sales, operations, logistics, consolidation, agency management, planning, general management, finance and administration. He has lived and worked in the Middle East, Asia and Europe.
Mr. Burns' background includes working directly for ocean carriers, port authorities and terminal operators. He has led or participated in projects such as developing port and free zone areas, evaluation of suitable port locations with landside capabilities, risk identification, mitigation, regulatory issues, construction of port tariffs, contract negotiations, creating growth strategies and identifying financial investors. Mr. Burns previously served as the Managing Director for the Hunterston Container Terminal in Scotland, and as the chief commercial officer for Salalah Port Services. In addition, he represented the Port of New York/New Jersey on a commercial basis for Europe, Middle East, Africa and South Asia. He spent fifteen years in several management roles with Sea-Land Service, including as Operations Director for Asia-Middle East-Europe Services. Mr Burns has worked with governments on logistics strategies and trade facilitation initiatives such as AEO’s and Port Community Systems and is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Logistics Transport.
