Eoin O'KeeffeTechnical Director with MATRANS at University College London
Eoin O'Keeffe is the Technical Director with MATRANS responsible for leading AIS related product design, development and deployment. Prior to working at MATRANS Eoin worked with the shipping group at the UCL Energy Institute (UCL EI). UMAS is a brand collaboration supported by MATRANS and the UCL EI Shipping Team.
As MATRANS Technical Director, Eoin leads the FUSE development team at UMAS. FUSE is a cloud-based platform primarily focused on AIS derived analysis for vessel performance and fleet analysis.
Eoin was a key contributor and co-author of the IMO Third GHG Study and he has authored and contributed to studies for private and public organisations including the UK Government, European Commission and European Bank of Reconstruction and Development.
He has extensive experience in modelling ship movements and emissions using AIS data, statistical analysis of vessel performance using on-board operational data and techno-economic modelling of the shipping sector.
Eoin’s doctorate research was primarily focused on techno-economic simulation of the global dry bulk shipping sector. Prior to joining the shipping group at UCL EI in 2009, he was a software engineer for over 5 years, following a degree in Civil and Environment Engineering.
