As the son of a shipping and freight executive who was also a consular diplomat, it could be said that Port Medical Management’s Dean Crassas comes by his business mindset naturally. Exposed to the intricacies of international enterprise from a young age, Crassas witnessed his parents’ interactions with heads of state and titans of business industry, in both formal and informal settings.

A native Houstonian and a graduate of the University of Texas at Austin, Dean’s service to the arena of international shipping and freight found him living and working in many of the largest port cities in the US. His conversations with ship owners and agents revealed a common, if not universal, complaint: sourcing and providing dependable medical care for foreign crew members was time consuming and complicated.

With his solution-focused acumen, Crassas addressed this need by creating a new service model. In 2005, he opened the doors of Port Medical Management, operating from Houston, Texas and servicing the needs of ships in port throughout the Gulf Coast.

In the years since its debut, Port Medical Management’s service portfolio has expanded, and the company that Dean Crassas founded 18 years ago is now equipped to service ports of call on all three US coastlines. Dean Crassas remains at the helm of Port Medical Management’s and makes his home in Houston, Texas.
