Angus Skinner is a Civil Engineer who has spent 60 years studying and researching the behavior of particulate materials. For 55 years he has consulted on ground engineering and soil mechanics problems.
He was a lecturer in Soil Mechanics at Imperial College from 1967 to 1998.
On cargo problems, he was an expert witness on possible cargo failures in the Inquiry into the loss of the Derbyshire, the loss of the bulk ore carrier ‘Silimna’ and the loss of the bulk ore carrier mv Bulk Jupiter. He was a participating member of the IMO Correspondence Group on Transport of Iron Ore Fines in Bulk, as an advisor to Maritime and Coastguard Agency Environmental Policy Branch.
